Authorities in Christian County are investigating an apparent homicide.
The bloody body of a white man, believed to be in his early 30's, was found off a gravel road near H Highway close to Chadwick about 11:00 a.m. after someone ran over the remains, according to Christian County Sheriff Joey Kyle.
"No ID was discovered on the body and detectives are searching the regional area for any reports of missing persons fitting the description of the body," said Kyle.
The area where the body was found is near the Mark Twain National Forest. Kyle says there is evidence that some sort of struggle took place and investigators worked feverishly to gather potential evidence before thunderstorms ripped through the area.
Sources say the man had been shot multiple times. Kyle confirms that shell casings were found near the body.
The Division of Drug and Crime Control investigators with the Missouri Highway Patrol are assisting in the investigation
